126 Mr. McHugh asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will immediately sanction the application for a classroom assistant and resource teaching hours to enable a person (details supplied) in County Galway to commence at a school in Tuam, County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. An application for resource teacher and special needs assistant support in respect of the student in question was received in my Department on 2 October 2003. Applications for special support services are referred to the national educational psychological service for consideration and recommendation as to the nature and level of special support required in each case. The application in question has been referred to national educational psychological service for consideration and a response is currently awaited.
My Department will be in contact with the school authorities as soon as the response from NEPS has been received and considered.
