193 Mr. P. Breen asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government if additional funding will be provided to Clare County Council under the housing aid for the elderly scheme to deal with the serious situation that exists in this area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22708/03]
The scheme is operated by the health boards at local level and administered by a task force under the aegis of my Department. An additional allocation for 2003 will shortly be notified to the boards, including the Mid-Western Health Board. It is a matter for it to apportion funding to its community care areas and to determine, within the allocation available, the priority of cases.
