Vol. 572 No. 2

Written Answers. - Housing Grants.

Charlie O'Connor

Ceist:

196 Mr. O'Connor asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government the actions he is taking to ensure that all outstanding applications for the first-time buyer's grant have been processed to the satisfaction of the applicants; the position in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22649/03]

Acknowledgements have issued in respect of all applications received on termination of the new house grant scheme, as have the details of the requirements regarding its termination to these applicants and those already in the system who have not been finalised to payment. Applicants who have not fully completed their application forms, or for whom particular information or documentation is outstanding, have been requested to rectify these matters. Certificates of provisional approval, to be used in claiming payment of the grant on completion and occupation of the house, have issued in those cases where application forms are completed and all necessary documentation has been furnished. This is also the case where, from the information available, it appears that applicants are entitled to the grant.

In all cases where a claim for payment has been received the file has been referred to an inspector of my Department, for inspection, with a view to payment of the grant if in order. Payment of grants is being made in respect of those houses which have been inspected and where all scheme conditions are met.
