Vol. 572 No. 5

Adjournment Debate. - Social and Affordable Housing Programme.

Mary Upton

Ceist:

183 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government the position regarding the development of affordable housing at a location (details supplied) in Dublin 8; and the contact he has had with Dublin City Council on this proposal. [23753/03]

The announcement in July of this year of the immediate release of the Office of Public Works site at Jamestown Road, Inchicore, Dublin 8, was a critical step in ensuring early delivery of affordable housing on this site. Officials in my Department have met with Dublin City Council and the Office of Public Works to progress the development of the site, and arrangements are now being put in place for the establishment and transfer of title of the site. A model for the delivery of affordable units for this site is now being developed in consultation with Dublin City Council, and it is being designed to comply with the requirement not to have an impact on the Exchequer or general Government finances. It is envisaged that Dublin City Council will have a central role in ensuring delivery of affordable housing at both the Jamestown Road and Infirmary Road sites given their considerable experience to date in delivering affordable housing.

Questions Nos. 184 to 186, inclusive, answered with Question No. 176.
