Vol. 572 No. 5

Adjournment Debate. - Grant Payments.

Ned O'Keeffe

Ceist:

74 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will reconsider an application under the suckler cow premium scheme 2003 with a view to including the animal of a person (details supplied) in County Cork which has been deemed ineligible. [23751/03]

The person named applied for premium for ten animals under the 2003 suckler cow premium scheme on 30 June 2003. While processing the application it was found that one animal, tag number DVK451213, had not calved since September 1998. The herdowner was informed on 12 September 2003 that this animal was deemed ineligible for payment under section 24viii of the terms and conditions of the scheme, as it did not appear to be intended for rearing calves for beef production. He was advised of the option to appeal this decision but has not done so to date. While the animal will be counted for stocking density purposes it has been deleted from the claim and the application has been processed for advance payment on the nine remaining animals. A 1% late application penalty will apply as the application was lodged after the closing date of 27 June 2003. Payments are commencing this week.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

75 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be awarded an area-based payment for 2003. [23815/03]

The 2003 area aid application of the person named has been fully processed with an area determined for payment purposes of 77.94 hectares. He will be paid his full entitlement under the 2003 area-based compensatory allowance scheme shortly.
