Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Connolly – the situation pertaining in rural national schools with particular reference to Knocknagrave national school, County Monaghan, where staffing is determined by the enrolment on 30 September of the previous school year; (2) Deputy Hayes – when a refurbishment grant for St. Ailbe's school at Rosanna Road, Tipperary town, will be sanctioned; (3) Deputies Twomey and Cowley – the timeframe for the proposed multimillion euro investment in the radiation oncology services in light of the recent report which shows a massive deficit in such services; (4) Deputy Michael Moynihan – the level of investment by Departments and State agencies on printing costs for glossy brochure-type publications and annual reports; (5) Deputy Eamon Ryan – the proposal from the National Roads Authority for a €300 million upgrade of the M50 motorway network, given this project was seen as the last priority for investment in the Dublin Transportation Office plan, A Platform for Change, and funding has not yet been made available for the myriad of public transport projects also proposed in the plan; (6) Deputy Deenihan – the need for the Minister to carry a special investigation into the alarmingly high levels of radon gas in the Castleisland and Tralee areas of County Kerry where the highest levels of radon ever identified in Ireland were found recently; (7) Deputy Gilmore – the decision of the Minister of Education and Science to close St. Catherine's College of Home Economics, Sion Hill, Blackrock, County Dublin; (8) Deputy Devins – the withdrawal of container freight services by Iarnród Éireann on the Sligo to Dublin line; (9) Deputy Burton – the reports at the weekend of up to €4 billion held in offshore accounts in the Isle of Man and the implications of this for the integrity of the taxation system, the compliant PAYE taxpayer and the activities of banks and other financial institutions in facilitating such offshore tax evasion; (10) Deputies Pat Breen and James Breen – the proposals in the Hanly Report for the Mid-Western Health Board region as a pilot project; (11) Deputy Boyle – to call upon the Government to bring into place adequate building regulations to prevent the build up of radon gas and to ensure their implementation; (12) Deputy Breeda Moynihan-Cronin – the need for urgent refurbishment and repairs at Lauragh national school, Killarney, County Kerry; (13) Deputy McGinley – the serious deterioration in the standard of search and rescue services in the north west and the implications for fishermen and mariners in that area; (14) Deputy Healy – the urgent need for the Minister to approve a staffing allocation of €3.2 million for the South-Eastern Health Board to enable the opening of the new surgical unit at St. Joseph's Hospital, Clonmel; (15) Deputy Naughten – the need for the Minister for Transport to outline his plans to upgrade the service on the Sligo and Westport rail lines in light of a number of recent safety concerns regarding carriages.

The matters raised by Deputies Hayes, Gilmore, Twomey, Cowley, Pat Breen and James Breen have been selected for discussion.
