The provision of hospital services at St. Joseph's Hospital, Clonmel is a matter for the South Eastern Health Board.
Phase one of the development at St. Joseph's Hospital, Clonmel which is now complete, provides the infrastructure to facilitate the transfer of surgical and ancillary services from Our Lady's Hospital, Cashel. These services include the following: accident and emergency department, C,S,S,D unit, 39 bed surgical ward, three operating theatres, intensive care unit, day care unit, including dedicated endoscopy suite.
Last week I officially opened a number of new facilities at St. Joseph's Hospital. These included: cardiac rehabilitation unit, CT unit, medical 111 ward, coronary step-down unit, medical assessment unit, library and education centre.
To date €30 million has been spent on phase one of the developments at St. Joseph's Hospital, Clonmel. When completed, the overall investment in the development of acute hospital services in south Tipperary will be in the region of €40 million.
