300 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the funding given to the Western Health Board for the special housing aid for the elderly scheme in 2002; the number of people who applied for funding; the number of applications granted; and the amount of funding which was paid out. As the Deputy will be aware, funding for the special housing aid for the elderly scheme is provided by the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government for the Western Health Board which operates the scheme on behalf of the Department.
The information requested is as follows: the Western Health Board received an allocation of €2,301,911 in 2002 for the scheme. Some 1,509 applications were received by the board and 1,322 jobs completed in 2002 under the scheme. Total expenditure on the scheme in 2002 amounted to €3,446,567.
