Vol. 572 No. 6

Written Answers. - Services for People with Disabilities.

Cecilia Keaveney

Ceist:

312 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Health and Children the role which arts and music therapy can play in the provision of services for children with development co-ordination difficulties either in prevention or cure terms; the work carried out in this area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24198/03]

The information requested by the Deputy is not readily available to my Department. Therefore, my Department has asked the health boards and the Eastern Regional Health Authority for this information which will be forwarded on to the Deputy as soon as it becomes available.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Ceist:

313 Ms B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Health and Children his proposals to provide a paediatric occupational therapist in County Kerry; if his attention has been drawn to the difficulties being experienced by families due to the lack of service; the situation with regard to the referral of children outside the SHB area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24235/03]

The provision of health related services, including occupational therapy, for people with physical and sensory disabilities is a matter for the Eastern Regional Health authority and the health boards in the first instance. Accordingly, the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer of the Southern Health Board with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
