363 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government if Galway County Council has applied to his Department to construct a sewerage scheme at Dunmore, Kilkerrin and Leenane, County Galway, under the design, build and operate scheme; the position regarding same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Dunmore, Kilkerrin and Leenane sewerage schemes have been approved for funding in my Department's water services investment programme 2003-05 under the rural towns and villages initiative. I approved the contract documents for the sewerage network elements of these schemes in June 2003 and it is now a matter for Galway County Council to invite tenders for these works. The tender documents submitted by the council for the treatment works elements of the three schemes, which are being advanced as a grouped design-build-operate project, are under consideration in my Department and will be dealt with as quickly as possible.
