Vol. 572 No. 6

Written Answers. - Tourism Industry.

Ruairí Quinn

Ceist:

150 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs if he will publish the report of the consultation group established to consider the issue of access to waymarked ways; the progress made to date by the rural agritourism advisory group in its consideration of the problem of access to walkways, especially in view of the importance of this sector to agritourism; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24056/03]

The issue of access to waymarked ways and its impact on the rural tourism and agritourism sector is being considered by a consultation group which is representative of farming organisations, tourism marketing bodies and recreational users of the countryside. It has met three times since its establishment in April to examine the issues involved. Progress reports on the work of the group have been made to each meeting of the rural agritourism advisory group established by me last February. The consultation group will report back to the rural agritourism advisory group in January 2004. I will consider what actions should be taken, including the question of publication of any report, when the group's consideration of this issue has been completed.
