Vol. 573 No. 1

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Paudge Connolly

Ceist:

245 Mr. Connolly asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of public service cuts proposed for his Department in 2004; the areas in which such proposed cuts will be effected; if they are likely to be at lower or higher levels; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24513/03]

My intention is to minimise the effect on front line services to the public and that essential services will not be affected by the reduction. At this stage, the breakdown of grades has yet to be determined.

The proposed reduction in authorised numbers for my Department and its agencies in 2004 is 98.8.
