Vol. 573 No. 1

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Cecilia Keaveney

Ceist:

157 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Finance the position in relation to the decentralisation programme; if this programme will include offices for Inishowen; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24550/03]

As I have said previously, the Government remains committed to moving forward the progressive decentralisation of Government offices and agencies. However, a wide range of important issues, including the national spatial strategy, have to be considered before a final decision by the Government is taken on the matter. It is vital that all involved are consulted, be they staff concerned about their futures or departmental managements concerned about the delivery of the public services for which they have responsibility. All of the many submissions and representations which have been received by my Department, including those received on behalf of Inishowen, will be taken into account as part of the deliberative process but until a final decision is taken it is not possible to state which locations will be included or excluded from the programme.
