Ceist:

115 Mr. Kehoe asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason a person (details supplied) was only offered a medical grant of ?3.20 per day for school transport costs when there is no transport available; the position regarding his Department supplying this person's school transport after negotiations with a local contractor; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24669/03]

Minister for Education and Science (Mr. N. Dempsey):

The family referred to by the Deputy in the details supplied were offered a medical grant in accordance with the terms of the school transport scheme.

The family were advised of their right to appeal the decision.
