166 Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will communicate with the prison authorities regarding the need to transfer for their own protection a person (details supplied) incarcerated in Castlerea Prison, who is under threat from other prisoners and also suicidal. I draw the Deputy's attention to Parliamentary Question No. 168 which was answered on 16 October 2003 and addresses the current placement of this prisoner. I have nothing more to add except to say that the director general of the Prison Service has informed me that there are no current compelling operational or medical needs which require this prisoner to be transferred.
