Vol. 573 No. 3

Written Answers. - Flood Relief.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

270 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Finance the views of the Office of Public Works regarding the concerns of the residents of Nos. 1-15 Botanic Avenue, Dublin 9, that the anti-flood embankment leaves the rear of their homes vulnerable to break-ins and that this fencing provided is insecure and should be replaced with a protective boundary wall or solid fence; if he will have this matter urgently reviewed. [25347/03]

Ceist:

271 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Finance the views of the Office of Public Works regarding public concerns that the recent works at Dean Swift Bridge, Dublin 9, leaves the Tolka River bank dangerously open to children and that this area should be properly railed off; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25348/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 270 and 271 together.

The Office of Public Works is carrying out works on the River Tolka in the Glasnevin and Drumcondra areas of Dublin as agents of and in accordance with instructions received from Dublin City Council. I have arranged for the matters raised by the Deputy to be brought to the attention of the relevant officials in the city council.
