Vol. 573 No. 3

Written Answers. - Site Acquisitions.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

358 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Education and Science the discussions which have taken place between the Office of Public Works and Cork City Council regarding the purchase of a site for the new Gaelscoil at Mayfield, Cork, in view of the fact that the school is paying approximately ?100,000 per annum rent. [25277/03]

The property management section of the Office of Public Works is acting on behalf of my Department in relation to site acquisitions generally and is continuing to explore the possibility of acquiring a suitable site for the school referred to by the Deputy. As soon as a report is received from the Office of Public Works the matter will be given further consideration.

The timing of the acquisition of a suitable site will depend on a number of factors including the priority to be afforded to this project, the volume and urgency of other applications on hands and the level of funding available to my Department for site acquisition and other capital purposes.
