Vol. 573 No. 3

Written Answers. - Alternative Energy Projects.

Pádraic McCormack

Ceist:

402 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources if he will immediately withdraw an AER VI contract issued for a wind farm at Derrybrien, County Galway, being developed by a company (details supplied), a subsidiary of the ESB, following the blasting and development of quarries within the area and in light of the recent massive landslide; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24828/03]

The terms and conditions of the AER VI support programme generally are conditional on each supported project being and remaining compliant with the terms and conditions of the competition. In addition, a specific condition of AER VI is that each project selected secures all necessary consents, clearances and licences.

I am not aware of any recent statutory alteration to, or refusal of, any consent, clearance or licence in respect of the project mentioned. In the absence of evidence to demonstrate that any particular project is in breach of the terms and conditions of AER VI, I cannot withdraw the associated contract or the offer of a contract.
