443 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of admissions from prisons to the Central Mental Hospital in 2001, 2002 and 2003 to date who were certified clinically insane either by prison doctors or by consultants from the Central Mental Hospital immediately prior to their admission to the hospital. I propose to take Questions Nos. 443 and 444 together.

Responsibility for the provision of the services referred to by the Deputy rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has therefore asked the regional chief executive to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply to him directly.
