Vol. 573 No. 3

Written Answers. - Health Board Service Plans.

Denis Naughten

Ceist:

511 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has received the third quarterly report on the service plan of each health board; the elements of the original service plan which were not included in third quarterly report; the reason such elements are not included; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25614/03]

Mechanisms are in place to review service plans throughout the year, including quarterly review meetings between my Department and the health board chief executive officers. Service plan progress reports are submitted to the Department by the boards in advance of these review meetings. The health boards have all supplied service plan progress reports in the context of the most recent review meetings which were held on 21 and 22 October. These reports covered the major elements of each board's original service plan. Some of the more detailed elements of the service plans were not covered as they were not essential for the purpose of the review. The purpose of the progress reports are to provide the Department with the necessary level of detail required to monitor the overall delivery of the service plans by the boards and the reports submitted by the boards for the recent review meetings fulfilled that requirement.
