Vol. 573 No. 3

Written Answers. - Industrial Development.

Martin Ferris

Ceist:

182 Mr. Ferris asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of companies which IDA Ireland has brought to Kerry since the beginning of 2003; and the type of business in which they are engaged. [25023/03]

IDA Ireland is the agency with statutory responsibility for the attraction of foreign direct investment to Ireland. The agency, through its project divisions and network of overseas offices, is actively marketing County Kerry to overseas investors as a potential location for foreign direct investment.

There have been two site visits to Kerry so far this year – one in July from an international services company which visited Tralee and one in September from a health care company which visited Listowel. Ultimately, it is the overseas investors themselves who decide where they want to locate, including what areas they wish to visit as potential locations.
