196 Mr. Cuffe asked the Minister for Defence the overall figure within his Department for the percentages, quantities and costs of recycled and non-recycled paper and paper products used by his Department in the last period for which figures are available; and the plans his Department has to increase its use of recycled paper and paper products and cut down on the use of non-recycled paper and paper products. My Department expended a total of €28,080.90 on recycled and non-recycled paper and paper products for the year ending 31 December 2002. Of this total, €8,678.68 was spent on recycled paper products amounting to 31% of all paper products purchased. The remainder of €19,402.22 was spent on non-recycled paper products amounting to 69% of the total purchased.
The Department is committed to purchasing increased amounts of recycled paper and paper products where costs allow.
