Vol. 573 No. 4

Written Answers. - Task Forces.

Arthur Morgan

Ceist:

182 Mr. Morgan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of task forces which have been established since 1997; the amount they cost; and if a cost benefit analysis has been carried out in relation to any or all of those task forces. [25722/03]

Since 1997, my Department has established 24 task forces, as follows: task force on the prevention of workplace bullying, task force on lifelong learning, Tullamore inter-agency group, north Mayo enterprise initiative, Longford inter-agency group, Tralee inter-agency group, AWG south-east task force – Avonmore-Waterford, Clonmel task force, Leitrim enterprise project group, Donegal employment initiative, Mullingar inter-agency task force, north Dublin training and job placement initiative, Limerick inter-agency task force, Ballinrobe inter-agency task force, Laois task force, north Tipperary enterprise initiative, Dunmanway inter-agency group, Ballinasloe inter-agency group, Dundalk inter-agency group, Thurles inter-agency task force, Macroom task force, Drogheda inter-agency task force, Wexford enterprise initiative, and strategy Waterford task force.

The administrative costs of each of the task forces, together with the implementation costs of the recommendations, have generally been met from within the overall Estimates allocations of the Department and-or its agencies, and from other bodies involved, for example, local authorities and private sector funding. In the circumstances, my Department does not attempt to calculate total costs of task forces. No cost benefit analysis has therefore be carried out on any of the task forces.
