121 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education and Science further to Parliamentary Question No. 146 of 2 October 2003, the position in relation to an application for a classroom assistant for a person (details supplied) in County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department has received an application for special needs assistant support for the pupil referred to by the Deputy. My officials are currently liaising with the national educational psychological service in relation to the application and a response will issue to the school authorities shortly.

My Department has received an application for a special needs assistant for the pupil referred to by the Deputy. This application is being examined in the context of the overall level of resources currently deployed in the school. My officials will be in contact with the school authorities shortly.
