26 Mr. Morgan asked the Minister for Finance if he has finalised the compilation of a national public property register to identify properties in State control suitable for housing projects which the Government committed to in An Agreed Programme for Government; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Office of Public Works is compiling the national State property register based on returns from individual Departments which are responsible for the co-ordination of returns from bodies under their auspices.

The Office of Public Works has developed a property data system which is capable of storing the data in a format which facilitates analysis. It has requested Departments to supply completed returns from the various holders of State property in order that the register can be completed and the required analysis can be undertaken.
