88 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Defence the origin of the milk used by the Defence Forces based in Cork. [25947/03]
The position is that the contract for the supply of milk to the Defence Forces based in Cork is placed on an annual basis. Following a tender competition, which included advertising in the European journal the contract for the period 1 November 2003 – 31 October 2004 was awarded to Donegal Creameries, Ballyraine, Letterkenny, County Donegal. Supplies of milk against this contract will however be delivered by two agents of Donegal Creameries, namely Dairyland Cuisine, Carlow, and Dairygold Food Products, Cork. The value of this contract is €324,000. The contract for the previous year was held by Dawn Dairies, Cork.
