Vol. 573 No. 5

Written Answers. - Farm Retirement Scheme.

Gerard Murphy

Ceist:

92 Mr. Murphy asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a farmer who was drawing the farm retirement scheme and has now reached 70 years of age and not receiving the farm retirement pension, can help out their son on the family farm. [25959/03]

On entering the scheme of early retirement from farming, participants undertake to cease commercial farming definitively. This commitment is a permanent one and is not limited to the period for which the pension is granted. It precludes a situation such as that described.
