Vol. 573 No. 5

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Tom McEllistrim

Ceist:

102 Mr. McEllistrim asked the Minister for Finance when the proposed new Castleisland Garda station in County Kerry will be ready, in view of the hazardous conditions of the present temporary Garda station in Castleisland; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23207/03]

The Commissioners of Public Works are currently negotiating for a site for a new Garda station in Castleisland. Finalisation of any acquisition will depend on the relative priority accorded to Castleisland by the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform, and the availability of funds. The Commissioners of Public Works carry out works to Garda stations at the behest of the Garda authorities and the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform. To date, no request has been received to carry out any works at the temporary Garda station in Castleisland.
