Vol. 574 No. 1

Written Answers. - Public Transport.

Charlie O'Connor

Ceist:

431 Mr. O'Connor asked the Minister for Transport if he will report on his efforts to deal with the challenge of the Red Cow roundabout in respect of the Luas project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26548/03]

My Department has been assured by the Dublin Transportation Office, DTO, and the Railway Procurement Agency, RPA, that under the proposed arrangements, Luas which has its own overbridge at the roundabout will have no negative implications for traffic on the Red Cow roundabout.

The NRA has recently announced proposals designed to achieve major improvements in the key traffic movements on the M50, including those at the N7 Red Cow roundabout. In finalising the design of the upgrade, the NRA is giving further consideration to a number of issues including the interface of the upgrade with Luas and are in discussion with the RPA in that regard.
