Vol. 574 No. 1

Written Answers. - Road Traffic Offences.

Emmet Stagg

Ceist:

432 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of lorries that are over 3,500 kg in weight and which are subject to a 50 mph speed limit which have been detected in excess of that speed in each quarter of 2002 and 2003 to date; if he has satisfied himself with that detection rate; his plans to increase roadside checks especially targeted at lorries in excess of the speed limit in the early mornings on main routes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26195/03]

I regret very much that it has not been possible, within the time allowed, to compile the information necessary to answer this question. I will convey the information to the Deputy as soon as it becomes available.

Gay Mitchell

Ceist:

433 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason penalty points for an alleged offence of speeding on 5 April 2003 will not be entered into the record of the licence of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8 until 17 November 2003, months after the payment of a fixed charge, effectively meaning they will have penalty points for a period for three years and seven months; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26309/03]

I regret very much that it has not been possible, within the time allowed, to compile the information necessary to answer this question. I will convey the information to the Deputy as soon as it becomes available.
