Ceist:

443 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of ICT projects or initiatives being undertaken by his Department; the cost of each project; if they are being or have been delivered within budget and on time; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26076/03]

My Department has sole or lead responsibility for ten ICT projects being under taken at present. The following table gives a list of these projects, showing projected cost to end 2003 and the current status of each project as regards budget and timescales:

Office Relocation to facilitate refurbishment of the Department Head Office

Network and systems to support set-up of Office of the Refugee Applications Commissioner

Last phases concluding in 2003. under budget.

Establishment of a managed Support Service for 16 Agencies and the Department Head Office

Due to conclude in early 2004 within expanded budget (reflecting additional agencies).

Relocation of expanded Immigration Division and related Agencies in One Stop Shop offices, Burgh Quay.

Finished in 2003, on time. Original budget was extended as it was decided to outsource logistical arrangements to meet fixed deadlines. Concluded within expanded budget.

Human Resource Management System Implementation

€0.4m

Concluding in 2003, on time. Costs of project are borne jointly by Justice, the Prison Service, the Courts Service, the Legal Aid Board and the Land Registry, allocated on a pro rata basis. The figure given is the Department's element of the overall cost, which is under budget.

Now concluding, late but within budget.

Film Censors

At final stage of implementation, within budget.

Justice IT Strategy Refresh

€0.1m

Within budget and time.

Other projects in the areas of inter-operability and management information frameworks are currently paused pending developments at central Government level. Early phases of projects to implement improvements in the criminal legal aid system and to implement the asylum IT strategy have been completed and work is planned to resume in 2004 as resources become available.
