Vol. 574 No. 2

Written Answers. - Capital Projects.

Jack Wall

Ceist:

211 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department will investigate the contents of a submission (details supplied) to ensure that the stated health hazard can be overcome by the allocation of funding from his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26637/03]

Minister for Education and Science (Mr. Dempsey)

While an application for capital funding has been received from the board of management of the school to which the Deputy refers, many of the issues raised in the submission should in the first instance be addressed to the board of management. It is the responsibility of the school's board to rectify many of the deficiencies identified using funding from the devolved minor works funding allocation or maintenance allocation.

The school's application for capital funding is being assessed within the school planning section of my Department. When completed, a decision in the matter will be conveyed to the school's board of management.
