Vol. 574 No. 2

Written Answers. - Capital Projects.

Jan O'Sullivan

Ceist:

217 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Education and Science if capital funding will be allocated in the Estimates for 2004 to address the serious accommodation crisis in Mary Immaculate College, Limerick, and to fulfil the commitment given in 1999 that colleges of education will be placed at the top of the third level agenda for capital investment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26676/03]

Minister for Education and Science (Mr. Dempsey)

As the Deputy is aware a review of all third level capital projects is currently being carried out, at my request, by the Higher Education Authority. This review is being carried out to assess the entire set of demands in all publicly funded third level institutions, to establish prioritisation and agree re-phasing. Decisions in respect of capital projects at third level institutions, such as those at Mary Immaculate College, will be taken when the review is complete.
