Vol. 574 No. 2

Written Answers. - Mayo Landslide.

Enda Kenny

Ceist:

318 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs if he has received a comprehensive report dealing with the landslides at Pollathomas and Glengad prepared for consultants by Mayo County Council; if he has examined this report; his views on its findings; the nature of assistance, compensation or other support that his Department is prepared to offer the tenants and landowners of those areas affected. [26760/03]

I received a copy of the report. However, this is a matter primarily for the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government. As I have already indicated in this House, within the parameters of existing programmes funding could be provided by my Department to the council to assist with the reinstatement of the graveyard and to provide a protective wall against further land movement. Any other assistance will be provided in consultation with the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government and the Office of Public Works.
