Vol. 574 No. 3

Written Answers. - Garda Deployment.

Joe Costello

Ceist:

232 Mr. Costello asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of gardaí stationed in each of the Garda stations in Dublin and Limerick for each of the past five years; the level of crime in the areas served by each of these stations for each of the past five years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26942/03]

I have been informed by the Garda authorities who are responsible for the detailed allocation of resources, including personnel, that the number of gardaí stationed in each of the Garda stations in Dublin and Limerick as at 11 November 2003, is being compiled and will be forwarded to the Deputy in due course.

The information in respect of the past five years as requested is not readily available and to provide same would require a disproportionate amount of Garda time and resources.

With regard to the level of crime in the areas served by each of these stations, this information is also being compiled at present and will be forwarded to the Deputy on completion.
