Written Answers. - Planning Issues.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

258 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government further to Parliamentary Question No. 386 of 15 October 2002, the progress made in obtaining a licence under the Air Pollution Act 1997 to operate a kiln at an industrial estate in County Kilkenny; his views on whether the cost of the kiln, ?14,500, represents value for money; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27007/03]

My Department in consultation with the relevant regulatory agencies about satisfying environmental licensing requirements in relation to the operation of kilns at national monuments depots. This consultation will be concluded as soon as is possible. Given the nature of work undertaken by my Department on the conservation and preservation of national monuments, I am satisfied that the cost of the kiln at the Kilkenny depot represents value for money.
