Vol. 574 No. 3

Written Answers. - Architectural Heritage.

Emmet Stagg

Ceist:

260 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government the new capital projects in the built heritage area sanctioned since he came to office, including the cost approved in 2002 and 2003; and the total cost of the works. [27018/03]

My Department has been making good progress on a large number of capital projects in the built heritage area under the national development plan which commenced in 2000. Some examples are the conservation works at Kilfenora Cathedral, County Clare estimated at €270,000; a new visitor centre at Dunmore Cave, County Kilkenny, estimated at €7,000 and conservation works at the world heritage site at Skellig Michael, County Kerry, estimated at €23,000.

At the moment my Department is undertaking a mid-term review of this programme and I will consider sanctioning specific projects when this review is completed.
