Vol. 575 No. 5

Written Answers. - Community Games.

Jack Wall

Ceist:

133 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism the results of his meeting with the executive officers of the ESB community games on the provision of a permanent home for the games; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28655/03]

I met representatives of the ESB community games in the Department on Wednesday, 19 November 2003.

We had a useful exchange of ideas on the provision of a permanent home for the community games. I indicated my desire to help ensure that facilities continue to be available in Mosney to host the community games in the short term and certainly next year and 2005.
I have asked my officials to work with the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform and the Reception and Integration Agency, RIA, on the matter and to report back by year-end. The RIA has been supportive of the games and has facilitated the smooth running of the events with the help and involvement of its staff and through financial support.
