Ceist:259 Mr. Cuffe asked the Minister for Health and Children when an Ombudsman for children might be appointed in view of the fact that parents of Irish citizen children are being deported from the State. [28302/03]

The position of Ombudsman for children was advertised in early November and the selection process is ongoing at present. It is anticipated that an appointment will be made before the end of the year.
