179 Ms Enright asked the Minister for Education and Science the status of the provision of a new building at Loreto School, Balbriggan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28870/03]
My Department's planning section is considering an application for an extension to the school. The timing of when further large scale building projects, including this one, can proceed is dependent on the financial allocation for 2004 and subsequent years and the competing priorities for that funding.

The proposed large scale building project for the school is listed in section 7 of the 2003 schools building programme. The list is published on my Department's website at www.education.ie The proposed project is at stage 2 of architectural planning, developed sketch received. My Department has assigned it a three rating in accordance with the published criteria for prioritising large scale projects.
I intend to publish details of the 2004 schools building programme by early January at the latest. It will clarify what progress is planned for projects during 2004.

My Department has assigned it a two rating in accordance with the published criteria for prioritising large scale projects.
