Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

208 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education and Science the proposals he has to pay the standard allowance of ?12,459 to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29284/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 194 and 208 together.

The Teacher Arbitration Board reported in mid-2003 on the salaries of teachers on secondment to posts under various national education initiatives, including ICT adviser posts. At present my Department is in discussions with the teacher unions on the implementation of the arbitration award. Upon agreement being reached on seconded teachers, my Department will consider the ramifications of the award in respect of others occupying relevant posts, including the person referred to by the Deputy.
