Vol. 577 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Jack Wall

Ceist:

317 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding the acquisition of a site for a school for Castledermot, County Kildare; the number of meetings held by his Department with the Office of Public Works concerning the site; if he has satisfied himself with the progress of the acquisition; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31310/03]

The property management section of the Office of Public Works is acting on behalf of my Department for site acquisitions generally. It is exploring the possibility of acquiring a site for a school in Castledermot, County Kildare. Due to the commercial sensitivity involved in acquiring sites, it would be inappropriate for me to make any comment on a specific site. As a general principle, however, the rate of progress on site acquisitions is dependent on the funding available for 2004 and subsequent years and the competing priorities for that funding.
