368 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources if Members of the Houses of the Oireachtas installing broadband connection to offices in constituencies will be unable to access the Leinster House system due to its incompatibility; his views on whether such a situation is ridiculous in the context of Government policy on broadband connection; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources (Mr. D. Ahern):

The provision of broadband connections to Members' offices in the constituencies and the compatibility of these networks with the computer systems in Leinster House is a matter for the Office of the Houses of the Oireachtas and, with effect from 1 January 2004, the Houses of the Oireachtas Commission. I have no role in this regard.
