558 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government the allocation of moneys under the local government fund to each local authority in 2003 and 2004; the overall increase in 2004; the percentage increase to each local authority in 2004 when compared with 2003; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31194/03]
I assume the question refers to general purpose grants from the local government fund. Some €751.66 million has been allocated in general purpose grants for 2004. This represents an increase of approximately 14% over the corresponding allocation for 2003. Details of individual allocations to local authorities are set out in the table which follows this reply. For comparison purposes, the amounts listed as general purpose grants for 2003 include motor tax office expenses which were consolidated into the 2004 baseline and excludes the once-off allocations in 2003 towards the operational costs of water and sewerage schemes.
