Vol. 579 No. 3

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business, I propose to deal with a notice under Standing Order 31. I call on Deputy Crawford.

I seek leave under Standing Order 31 to move the adjournment of the Dáil on a specific and important matter of public interest requiring urgent consideration, namely, the failure of the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to get agreement with prison staff leading to a possible change of status, or closure, of Loughan House open prison, the lowest cost prison in the country, at a time when he was able to find €30 million for consultants, PR etc.

Having considered the matter raised, I do not deem it to be in order under Standing Order 31.
