Vol. 606 No. 3

Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business, I propose to deal with a number of notices under Standing Order 31.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: the necessity for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to make it clear to all employers and, in particular, to Irish Ferries that the exploitation of workers will not under any circumstances be tolerated and that the Government will take every step necessary to prevent such intolerable practices and to hold those responsible for such practices to account; and to make it clear to Irish Ferries and other employers that this is a State which values and respects workers' rights and that the exploitation of workers is not and will never be a legitimate cost saving mechanism for any employer.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: the need to remove the funding cap imposed in 2002 on Rape Crisis centres and services for support of women who have experienced domestic violence and that these services be adequately funded in the forthcoming budget to ensure that a full and effective service is provided by these organisations.

Having considered the matters raised, I do not consider them to be in order under Standing Order 31.
