Vol. 620 No. 3

Courts (Register of Sentences) Bill 2006: First Stage.

I move:

That leave be granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to establish a Register of Sentences.

Is the Bill opposed?

Question put and agreed to.

Since this is a Private Members' Bill, Second Stage must, under Standing Orders, be taken in Private Members' time.

I move: "That the Bill be taken in Private Members' time."

Question put and agreed to.

We now move on to the Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill 2006.

In light of the position outlined by Deputy Kenny and the response of the Tánaiste, pending delivery on the Government commitment to legislative action, I will postpone moving First Stage of this Bill.

Is the Bill opposed?

I do not wish to move First Stage now, but wish to leave it on the Order Paper so that if we do not get the promised action we can move it.
