Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy McHugh — the need to provide a new national school in Aughrim, Ballinasloe, County Galway, to replace the existing St. Catherine's national school; (2) Deputy Gormley — improving the quality of maternity services which are under enormous strain; (3) Deputy Ó Fearghaíl — the need to expedite the design and construction of a new waste water treatment facility for Kildare town; (4) Deputy Burton — the need for the Minister to provide extra language resource teachers in schools to cater for those with limited or no understanding of the English language; (5) Deputy Gogarty — the need for the Government to purchase the lands at St Edmundsbury-Woodville or to extend the special amenity area order as far as the Lucan Road so that these lands can be preserved intact for future generations, preferably as part of a Liffey Valley national or regional park; (6) Deputy Deenihan — the urgent matter of the collapse of Ballinagare Bridge, Lixnaw, County Kerry; (7) Deputy McGuinness — the urgent need for orthodontic services in Carlow-Kilkenny; (8) Deputy Cowley — to ask the Minister if she will carry out an urgent review of the delivering equality of opportunity in schools, DEIS, scheme situation for nine Mayo schools which will be affected and if she will agree that this is an inequitable situation and is not in the spirit of helping the disadvantaged, and if she will confirm the affected Mayo secondary schools will be reviewed immediately, with funding guaranteed to avoid disastrous consequences for the affected students; (9) Deputy Cooper-Flynn — that the Dáil notes with concern the escalating cost of energy supply, its effect on the competitiveness of Irish industry, the announcement of further impending increases in 2007 and the need to protect Irish jobs by bringing energy costs back into line with those obtaining in competitor countries; (10) Deputy Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin — the need for the Irish and British Governments to work together to combat the threat to human health and the Irish poultry industry from the H5N1 virus outbreak in England; (11) Deputy Neville — A Vision in Hindsight: One year progress report of a vision for change by the Irish Psychiatric Association; (12) Deputy Ferris — the proposed amalgamation of Scoil Mhuire de Lourdes — Roll No. 10975B — and Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál — Roll No. 18084I — Lixnaw, County Kerry; and (13) Deputy Fiona O'Malley — on this the International Awareness Day against Female Genital Mutilation, to discuss means to protect against its progression in Ireland.

The matters raised by Deputies Neville, Fiona O'Malley, Ó Caoláin and Ó Fearghaíl have been selected for discussion.
