I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy David Stanton — the need for the Minister for Education and Science to examine the situation at Kilcredan National School in Ladysbridge, County Cork, where the average class size next September will be more than 30 pupils and where junior infants will have a class size of 36 pupils and to state if she will sanction the appointment of two additional classroom teachers and if she will make a statement on the matter; (2) Deputy Mary O'Rourke — the need for the Minister to give a full update on the present situation of the talks between Dublin City Council, Dublin County Council and County Westmeath-County Longford on the option of taking water from Lough Ree in order to supply water to the east coast, and the need for the Minister to explain the role of local councillors in these deliberations and the role of the Minister and his Department; (3) Deputy Seán Sherlock — the urgent need to expedite progress on the planned N72 northern relief road at Mallow, County Cork in view of the importance of this project to Mallow's development as a hub town under the national spatial strategy; (4) Deputy Joe Costello — the need for the Minister to address the crisis in the Cabra west youth service; (5) Deputy Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin — the need for the Minister to set aside the current policy of over-centralisation of hospital services; (6) Deputy Ulick Burke — to accept the offer of the trustees of Seamount College to allow for the intake of first year students in September 2007 and to proceed rapidly with the purchase of the site so that a replacement school can be provided within the timeframe specified; (7) Deputy Simon Coveney — the steps the Minister intends to take in response to the attempted landing of huge quantities of cocaine off the west Cork coast and (8) Deputy Tom Sheahan — the reason a south Kerry family has not received the foster care allowance.
The matters raised by Deputies Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin, Tom Sheahan, Joe Costello and Simon Coveney have been selected for discussion.
