Vol. 638 No. 1

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Deirdre Clune — the need to ensure the new national childcare investment programme, the community childcare subvention scheme 2008-2010, addresses the needs of working parents on low income; (2) Deputy Dara Calleary — the need for Government intervention to resolve the 12-year delay in providing a site for a technology park in Ballina, County Mayo; (3) Deputy John Perry — the health sector cutbacks leading to a reduction in patient services at hospitals, including Sligo General Hospital; (4) Deputy Niall Collins — the need to suspend the introduction and implementation of the new child care subvention scheme; (5) Deputy Tommy Broughan — the need to establish a ministerial task force to carry out a traceability audit of all building sites allegedly supplied with defective stone infill by a quarry group; (6) Deputy Jimmy Deenihan — the suspension of funding for the local authority playground scheme; and (7) Deputy Joe Costello — the need for the Minister for Education and Science to give legal recognition to Irish sign language.

The matters raised by Deputies John Perry, Dara Calleary, Joe Costello and Jimmy Deenihan have been selected for discussion.
